Tennessee DOT implements FAST on GMS-2

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has implemented the Topcon GMS-2 and GeoAge Field Adapted Survey Toolkit, FAST for rapid data collection to support their Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Field data is captured using the GMS-2 high precision GPS receiver and associated with text attributes and digital photos. The built-in camera and FAST software makes linking photos with attributes a snap. There is no need to carry a separate camera and post associate photos.

FAST provides mapping support for points, lines, and polygons. This allows the GIS department to map all types of features, such as roads, signs, and water bodies. The GIS department deployed FAST on the Topcon GMS-2 after just one day of training on the system.
